Kim Wireman, joined Powell Recovery Center, Inc. in 2003 as a clinical social worker. Since joining Powell she has served as Clinical Director, Senior Vice President, Head of Clinical Operations and (since 2013) has served as its President/CEO of Powell.
Under Ms. Wireman's management Powell has expanded client treatment services offering more intensive treatment including expanded addiction medicine for clients. Powell also obtained an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic license in the State of Maryland, significantly expanding Dual Recovery services at Powell.
Ms. Wireman has led the growth in services and expansion of staff including an experienced senior management team to provide professional management and oversight as Powell continues to grow to meet public behavioral health treatment for men and women in need in the Baltimore area. Kim obtained a BA degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1993 and an MSW from University of Maryland at Baltimore in 2001.
Kim Smith, CSC-AD
Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Smith has worked in the human service field for approximately 17 years with adolescents and adults, with 12 years of that being in the field of addictions and mental health. Kim joined Powell in 2007 leading the women’s program then managing client operations in increasingly larger roles as Powell grew.
Today Kim is COO for Powell operations. She holds a BA in Social Work and a Maryland CSC certificate. She has worked at various local agencies in the capacity of counselor and case manager, as well as in supervisory positions. Ms. Smith has completed assignments working with adolescents with the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Urban league of Baltimore, and the Family League of Baltimore.
She has worked with a myriad of age groups at Mountain Manor Treatment Center, Tamar House and Family Recovery. Kim currently serves as a member of the State's Attorney Office mentorship program for at-risk young adults, and also is a Director for the National Women's Prison Project.
Steven L. Tiedemann, Esquire
Chief Business Officer & General Counsel
Steven joined Powell as General Counsel in 2013 and today is Chief Business Officer. Steven has been a practicing attorney for more than 20 years, also having taught business courses with distinction at Mt. St. Mary’s University and Towson University in Maryland. His practice has focused in the areas of business law, civil rights law, and constitutional law. Steve served as General Counsel and Senior VP to a private equity holding company with a diverse portfolio of interests. There he served as the Chief Legal Officer to numerous entities, handling and/or directing all business litigation, employment/labor law, commercial law, real estate law, mergers & acquisitions work, intellectual property, and other transactional work.
Steve served as an Assistant Attorney General representing the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Minority Business Enterprise program. Steve has tried hundreds of matters, including many jury trials, and has briefed and argued numerous appellate federal and state matters. Steve was a founding member of the Judicial Inquiry Panel of the Maryland Judicial Disabilities Commission where he reviewed judges’ ethical conduct. He is also a member of the Peer Review Committee of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland reviewing ethics complaints against attorneys.
Steven attended the U.S. Naval Academy for his undergraduate education, and holds a M.S. in Business from Central Michigan University, as well as a Juris Doctorate with Honor from the University of Maryland School of Law. Steve is a service-connected disabled veteran of the Navy and the proud father of 9.
